Touring Depot Newsletter for February 2009
When the weather is bad and you can't get out and ride, the next best thing is to read some travel adventure stories to inspire you to dream of that great touring adventure you want to take. Check out these new additions to our book selection.

New books added in the Adventure Touring section:

Good Vibrations - Coast to Coast by Harley : from Maryland on the east coast to San Francisco on the west (and then back again), they thunder their way over the sun-beaten plains, through scorching Death Valley, neon Las Vegas, the deep South and everywhere in between.

These are the days that must happen to you by Dan Walsh - In 2005 bike journalist Dan Walsh departed London on an XT Desert Rat headed for Africa, travelling from Dakar to Ghana to South Africa, then on to North and South America. His Bike magazine columns about his travel experiences – lyrical, edgy, fraught with danger, despair and surreal highs and lows – have earned him a vast cult following and he has been labelled as "the saviour of motorcycle writing". Dan still contributes to Bike magazine and is still out on the road. This is his first book.

Endless Horizon - A very messy motorcycle journey around the world by Dan Walsh. This second book continues the adventure. These reports from the frontier of motorcycle travel are never less than Technicolor, adrenaline-soaked, and funny. They feature Walsh mistaken for a bum in New York, bashed by deadly tequila in Mexico, contracting typhoid in Bolivia, biking “The Most Beautiful Road in the World” in Peru, and kidnapped in Kenya. And again and again they reveal Dan Walsh as the pre-eminent biker-rebel and -writer of our generation.

Storm - A motorcycle story of love, endurance and transformation. One couples story of their trip around the Baltic Sea.

Two wheels, Two Countries, One Dream : How far would you go to obtain a dream? What do you do when the dream career you wished for all your life becomes a reality but doesn't work out? In Dan's case he tries another. Quitting the best job you've ever had to go on a motorcycle trip on the Alaska Highway. How about learning to ride one first. What about buying a motorcycle first! The highs and lows of a once in a life time adventure. From Newfoundland to Alaska to the Grand Canyon and other places from the perspective of riding alone on a motorcycle, go with him as he tries to attain a dream. What is your dream?

Motorcycling stories - Adventure Touring From the Northwest Territories to the Yucatan Peninsula. This book includes stories of seven trips to Alaska. Two into mexico, Two long tours inside the USA and one each to newfoundland and Labrador. Abridge versions of several stories in this book appeared in the American motorcyclist magazine since 1986.

Order one of these books from Amazon and get inspired for your own adventure.
