TOURING DEPOT NEWSLETTER FOR MARCH 2010
First off I want to apologize for the April 2009 newsletter being sent out again. I'm not sure how that happened, but please forgive me.
Will winter ever end? We are looking forward to Spring and some warmer days here in Florida. It has been unusually cold this year all over the US. Now is a good time to take inventory of your riding and camping gear and see what needs to be upgraded for the coming riding season.
PLANNING: I can't count how many times I get the call or email, I'm leaving in 5 days for a trip, can you get the new helmet, jacket, chaps, etc. to me in time for my trip? Yea, I can probably get it there in time, but you need to realize that new gear usually has a breaking in period. You also need to allow time for the unforseen: Shipping gets delayed, sometimes the warehouse makes a mistake and ships the wrong item, maybe you're larger then you remembered and need a different size. There are lots of variables So Please, Plan Ahead and order your new gear at the very least, a month in advance. I hate disappointed customers. With that said, Now is a great time to get new gear for your spring and summer trips. It's important to work out the bugs and do a few shakedown runs of any new gear before your "big" trip. A new GPS, new tires, a trailer or anything else new to you, will be enjoyed on your trip, a lot more, if you add those gadgets and get accustomed to how they work and feel, well before your trip. This is especially true with a new helmet or boots, purchase these at least a couple months in advance and wear them as much as possible to ensure they're well broken in. It's no fun to discover on day one of a long trip that your new helmet doesn't fit right or your boots squeez your feet. So get your new gear now, break it in on a few spring day trips and start planning that long summer tour.
