TOURING DEPOT NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL 2010
Spring is Here! If you live in the north it's time to get your bike out of storage and plan some rides.
I found a cool site that links experienced riders with beginning riders. MotorcycleMentor.com is for beginning and intermediate riders. They also need experienced riders to help out. They have a free Riding Tips Newsletter with exclusive tips. Sign up info is on their site: http://motorcyclementor.com You can also find a link to their site in the links section under Motorcycle Safety. This is a great site where you can learn something new or be reminded of something you had forgotten. Check it out and become a better rider!
Do you ride a trike, or have thought about getting one? I have come across a great website that is full of information about trikes. Check out http://www.trikecorral.com/ They have information on Trike Dealers, Trike Products, Trike Conversions and more. I have added them to my links section.
PLANNING:
Many of us were inspired to ride a motorcycle cross country by the movie Easy Rider. I have discovered a website that gives you a map and directions so you too can have your own Easy Rider experience. The site gives you directions for following old Rt. 66 through the southwest and then on to Louisiana. Check out Mr. Zips Easy Rider Route http://www.mrzip66.com/2009/04/20/route-from-the-movie-easy-rider-map/#idc-cover This is a great site with lots of pictures of places in the movie what they looked like then and what they currently look like now. There are also several film clips to watch. It's a fun site to check out, so if you cannot be out riding, check it out and get your fix. Get your motor running and head out on the highway this spring and summer to retrace the Easy Rider Route. I have a link to this site in my links section under Roads.
Another great place to travel to this summer is Canada. I have found a wonderful new website called Vridetv. Experience Canada from a motorcyclist's point of view. Travel through Provincial and National Parks, World Heritage Sites, and the scenic roads that take you there. Vridetv has filmed some of the most beautiful places in Canada using high definition video cameras on handlebars, and the rider's helmet offering a Virtual Riding sensation. Visit their website and explore Canada today http://www.vridetv.com/ I have also added this site to my links section under motorcycle touring.
